Cancer Prevention & Control Community Initiative

Southern Seven Health Department has joined Illinois in addressing cancer in the region.  This funding assists in educating communities on the prevention of cancer and promotion of early detection for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. 

​Smoking is connected to many cancers and remains the number one cause of lung cancer. 
Currently, the Illinois smoking rate is 16%; the Southern Seven counties are as follows:
