Children through age 18 who are Illinois residents, are U.S. citizens or qualified legal immigrants, and meet income requirements are eligible for KidCare. Pregnant women of any age who are Illinois residents and meet the income requirements are eligible. If your family income qualifies your children for KidCare Share, Premium or Rebate, and your children already have other health insurance or they can get it, you can choose the KidCare Plan that is best for your family. Services covered by KidCare include doctor and nursing care, immunizations and preventive care, hospital and clinic care, laboratory tests and x-rays, prescription drugs, medical equipment and supplies, medical transportation, dental care, eye care, psychiatric care, podiatry, chiropractic care, physical therapy, mental health and substance abuse services. Pregnant women also receive prenatal care and other medical services. KidCare services are available at no cost or at low cost. How much you pay depends on your family income and size. Southern Seven Health Department staff have received training from the Illinois Department of Human Services and are able to help you apply for KidCare. If you would like to learn more about KidCare, or if you would like to request and application, contact your local clinic. Click here for clinic locations and phone numbers.
