About Public Health

The goal of Southern Seven’s Public Health Division is to protect and improve the health of the citizens of the seven southernmost counties in Illinois by promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing and responding to infectious diseases.  Our nursing staff work to protect our communities from Communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, AIDS, and other sexually transmitted diseases by making sure that people, who are contagious, seek and follow through with treatment.  Our Environmental Health staff work to prevent the occurrence of infectious diseases by performing comprehensive food protection, private sewage, potable water, and vector control programs.
