About Head Start

The Southern Seven Head Start Program is federally funded for children ages 0-5.  The Traditional Head Start Program is for children 3-5 years of age.  An Education Program is provided to help prepare children for transition into Kindergarten.  Health Screenings are provided as well as 2/3 of the nutrients a child needs each day.

The Early Head Start Program is specially designed to meet the unique developmental needs of children between the ages of birth to 36 months.  Early Head Start is offered at Anna, Cairo, Egyptian, Metropolis, Mounds, and Vienna Early Learning Centers.

The Home Based Option is also available which provides an educational experience to the children and families during weekly visits.  Twice per month a special day will be held at the center for all parents and children.
